The weekend of September 11th saw Loud on 7th’s music festival emphasizing hip-hop, rap, and R&B music, but one unique artist, CaSandra, set herself aside with her poetic talent demanding its moment at saturday’s Soul on Fire event. CaSandra goes over her Loud on 7th performance, “I performed my staple poem ‘I’m Dope’; it’s my mantra, my lifestyle, my pick me up, because I wrote it when I was in a very depressed state of mind, ‘I am Here’ which is about positive affirmations as well, and then I shared a little melody that is meant to wake people up and think a little bit”. CaSandra’s Instagram handle @Ihavearrived_yourwelcome further highlights her entrance and goofy nature. Come along and listen close to words just as powerful as any song, a tempo all her own, as she brings the audience into her zone, capturing each thought as it roams. If not careful, you will miss the story that unwinds with subtle rhymes, not too much for those meant to feel and maybe make more of a difference with the recognition that their feelings are real. And yet still more impressions lead to changed hearts, words delivered to the hardened “smarts” and if lucky enough it will remind of where hypocrisy lies, without pointed fingers and more crying.
CaSandra has been writing since 12 years old, and has spent the last 5 years since she came to Florida, performing and sending out her message “Self love is the most important thing in the world. Love yourself boo, you are your own biggest fan, never lose sight of you, if you’re not loving you, then you cannot love everyone you are supposed to be loving correctly. Love on yourself! Believe in yourself! Never lose sight of your goals, and trust that with God all things are possible!”. CaSandra offers a little bit of everything to every type of person, delving into life experiences as they arise; she writes motivational poems, to balls to the wall rage poems, to love poems to break up poems to spiritual, Godly poems and every kind of self expression poem in between.
